Symphonic Stories is a world premiere of original beautiful orchestral music created by some of Seattle’s finest emerging composers. This singular event showcases local composers, many with prominent musical careers in the film and video gaming industries. Each composer will create an original musical story told through a symphonic composition that is highly individual, imaginative and compelling. These "stories" will be performed by a 40-piece orchestral ensemble made up of some of Seattle's most talented musicians, and conducted by Grammy-award winner David Sabee.
This unforgettable premiere combines exciting new talent, virtuostic music making, and dynamic personal styles for an afternoon of evocative, enjoyable and thoroughly accessible music. Symphonic Stories will be performed Sunday, March 18, 2012, at 2 p.m. at the S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, WA. Tickets to this event are available now through the Benaroya Hall ticket office (206-215-4747), or online at www.benaroyahall.org.
This concert is co-produced by Tim Huling, founder of The Composition Lab (www.timhuling.com), and Glenna Burmer of Burmer Music LLC (www.burmermusic.com).
A portion of the proceeds from this concert will be donated to assist in the recovery of the Sendai Philharmonic Orchestra, whose musicians have been performing at shelters and on street corners to boost the spirits of the disaster survivors.
